Readings from the Rookery is an interactive read aloud-style program introducing STEM to children through themes of nature and ecology. This program targets children 5-9 years old and their caregivers, but sometimes has younger children in attendance. Parents/caregivers are encouraged to attend with their children and to engage in their child’s new understandings of nature, STEM, and literacy. Following the interactive read aloud, we bring attendees outside to join in a nature activity that relates to the theme of the book, helping children to make connections between the reading and the nature themes in practice.
Readings from the Rookery is FREE! This program is supported by United for Literacy, a United Way program dedicated to increasing literacy in the Rock River Valley. To learn more about United for Literacy, click here!
