1. Luminary Night Dec. 13
Soundtrack by Casey’s Fancy and Emily Hurd
There’s nothing more festive than 400 candles lighting your way around the trail at Severson Dells Forest Preserve. So join the fun on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 6-9 p.m.
After your stroll, sip hot cocoa, chat by the fireplace and listen to great music inside the Nature Center. Casey’s Fancy (right) returns to musically deliver the season with a festive Irish twist.
Rockford Auburn High School grad and Denver transplant Emily Hurd
makes her Luminary Night debut with a soulful indie musical stew that channels everyone from Janice Joplin to Hoagie Carmichael.

2. The Big Challenge
If you saw Doug Goodman’s Quickshots column in the Register Star on Saturday, you know that Severson Dells is trying to raise $50,000 so we can get a matching $50,000 from the host fee funds generated when waste from neighboring counties comes to the landfill in Winnebago County.
