The Beauty and Awe of Nature Starts Tonight
Posted by Brian Leaf under Info
Severson Dells’ “The Beauty and Awe of Nature” weekend begins tonight, Oct. 12, with one of the top conservationists of the 20th Century, Dave Foreman, and renowned nature author and photographer Stephen Trimble.

Their presentations begin at 6:30 p.m. at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford, 1601 Parkview Ave.
Foreman, a director of a New Mexico environmental think tank, The Rewilding Institute, will speak on “The Rewilding of America: A Conservation Vision For the 21st Century.”
Foreman is brilliant and still controversial. He was a founder of Earth First! He left Earth First! in 1989 to start The Wildlands Project, which by combining science and advocacy helped move the conservation movement in a new direction. Read more about his presentation here
Trimble will provide us with a double header, speaking both tonight and Friday. Tonight he’ll take us on a slide presentation of the Grand Canyon, telling the story of the canyon through the images and words of people who have photographed it.
His presentation is based on his latest book, “Lasting Light: 125 Years of Grand Canyon Photography.”
Friday night Trimble’s talk is “Why We Need Wild Places.”
“The Beauty and Awe of Nature” is a top-flight environmental event with something for all ages.
And it’s free!
Please come.
